Day 364 - Mystery Macro

Played with my macro lens this evening. Peg found all kinds of things around the house for me to try. I took a couple of pics of the object above but I like this one best. What do you think it is? I'll give you a hint. It's not usually red but silver. I deflected part of the flash with my hand (high tech, eh?) and this is the colour I got. Do you need any other hints? Okay, I'll give you one more. This object is usually found in the kitchen. So....?

Day 311 - Winterizing

It was a mild but cool fall day so we decided to finish winterizing the yard. One of the jobs that needed to be done was putting up the winter fences. Since we lost an hour due to the time change today, we finished our work just as it was getting dark. After bringing in all the tools I took my camera out to take some pictures of the fence. I had some technical difficulties but managed to get a few pictures. I chose the one above, not for its technical perfection but for the interesting results it gave.

Day 290 - Hotel away from Home

Once we finished cleaning the eaves and emptying the pool I finished up packing, changed and drove to Laval. The king size bed was a welcome sight after a busy weekend. I took out my wide angle lens to capture as much of the room as possible. I also took out my flash as the one on the camera wasn't enough. If you look through the blinds you can see the lights from the cars on the nearby highway. Despite the closeness of traffic the room is quiet and I'm looking forward to a restful sleep. Good night.

Day 17 - Berry Nice Day

I decided to take my camera and tripod to the backyard so I could take pictures and the dogs could have some time outside. They play pretty rough and run fast so I had to make sure to keep me and my camera out of the way. Luckily, Sadie and Dexter were respectful of my space and I managed to get a few pictures taken.

I decided that the Crab Apple tree would be my subject. It was also pretty windy so focus was tricky. It was about 4 in the afternoon and still light outside. I took pictures with and without a flash. I found this one interesting as the background appears black even if it was still daylight. I'll be sure to come back to the tree in early spring when the Bohemian Waxwings come back to clean up the berries. Maybe the dogs will stay inside for that photo shoot. :-)
