Day 105 - Student Portraits

It's Friday and a Day 1, which means Walk Around the World. We've taken a bit of a break due to the weather and yucky walking conditions. My students seemed to be pretty happy to be back walking. We spent the time walking, running, chatting and taking pictures of course. A few of the students borrowed my camera and took some shots. It's fun to see that they still have the photo bug. Lau took this pic of her two buddies, 'K' and 'J'.

Day 39 - Falling

While walking around the world my students were once again taking pictures for their Quebec Roots project. We're meeting with the 'Moniques' , author and photographer tomorrow and we were asked to take a few more pictures. I thought this one of 'L' was fun because of the expression on her face and how she seems to be suspended at an angle. In case you're wondering, she ended up flat in the snow a few seconds after this picture was taken.
I love taking pictures but watching the students explore the world through the camera lens is just as fun. It's a pleasure to see their excitement when they know they've captured a special moment. This project has given quite a few of them the photo bug. I hope it's a bug they keep for a lifetime.

Day 344 - Through a Young Photographer's Eyes

The deadline for getting pictures for our Quebec Roots project is quickly approaching. Since the students chose to write about Walk Around the World they need pictures to go with the theme. We have some fall photos but due to yucky weather we haven't had the chance to get any winter ones. Today was a bit cool but overcast and a PERFECT photo day. I just finished uploading over 200 photos onto my computer and some of them are amazing. With the ones from previous photo shoots I have just over 400 photos. From those 400 plus photos I have to choose 25 to send to the photographer next week. I guess I'll be looking at some photos this weekend.
Although I saw many great pictures today this photo above stood out for me because it's a photo of a young photographer taken by another young photographer.

Day 300 - Walking Sticks

It's Day 1 for us today so that means time for Walk around the World. Thankfully, the weather was cooperative. We had a little bit of rain in the morning but by the afternoon it was sunny and HOT. Many students and teachers shed their coats. The fence was covered with coats of various colours and sizes. I tried to capture them but the pics didn't work out. I settled on this picture of Peg's hand as she's giving out sticks. Each stick marks 1/2 kilometre. You can't tell but the sticks are painted red. She does this so they can be easily identified and no uncoloured sticks get counted.
