Another rainy day today. Fortunately, there were a few breaks so I was able to go out into the backyard with my macro once again. Our ground cherries are still producing so I picked up a few while I was wandering. I liked this one because the part of the paper-like cover has disintegrated so we can see the cherry inside.
I had never tasted ground cherries until I moved to Quebec. They're sweet, juicy and have tiny little seeds. They grow on a tomato like plant. The reason they call them ground cherries is that they fall to the ground when they are ripe.

oh! One of my favorites!
I'm glad you explained what they are because I've never heard of them!
Very cool photo!
Nice - I bought some from the market but have never seen them growing.
